A Little Laundry Time with Pink in our Babyhawk Oh Mei

Over the last month, I have been struggling with my love for babywearing and my ever-growing children. At 24 lbs. each and over 30″ tall, Pink and Purple are just a lot to handle these days strapped on my front and back. I sort of leaned away from babywearing as it seemed my babies were growing up and handing things well in their own.

They hold my hand walking out the door to take Orange to school (and pick her up.) They are doing steps pretty efficiently and safe now. And just ask them. They love to WALK!

With the most recent full moon, my kids went apeshit crazy. Nuts. Off their rockers. Monsters. They whined. Oh my lord did they whine. Princess Daddy had a few late meetings and this left me making dinner alone with the three amigos.

Ever tried to cook with a toddler screaming and scratching her way through the skin on your leg? It’s not pretty. How about fold laundry with your 1-year-old that is desperately yelling, “HEP, HEP!” because she somehow thinks she can assist me?

Then it occurred to me. I’ve been so stupid. I have a soft structured carrier, a mei tai and a woven wrap all just sitting in the nursery. USE ONE! Life is peaceful again. I can toddlerwear. In fact, I’ve found an entirely new love for wearing my kids again.

Why didn’t I think of this sooner??? Geeze.

So seriously, if you do not already wear your baby (or toddler) please leave me some comments. I will be happy to share all my resources on buying comfortable and safe carriers on a budget, what pieces to buy, what size and shape they work for. You name it, I’ll tell you what I know.

Do you use a baby carrier already? What kind of stuff have you gotten done while babywearing? I’d love to hear your story.

I have afew carriers. Seven sling (not a fan) a mei tai. Great while he was smaller. Abd two ergos i love love lo e this carrier.
Ive manged to do almost all the housework baby wearing.

    • We recently invested in two Babyhawks and really love them. I only wear my girls on my back now because of the weight and don’t have any issues doing so. A woven wrap would also be an option as it’s more supportive than a stretchy wrap and can be used for hip, front or back carriers 🙂

      • I like the idea of a hip carrier! My oldest wouldn’t stay in a carrier now at almost 2 but my youngest who just turned 6 months would probably be nice and comfy on my hip – especially now that she is trying to sit. I will look into it – thank you!

      • A good ring sling would be good if you prefer to use your hip/shoulder for support instead of back. I haven’t personally used them but know many who do.
